I Want a Wound

Related to country: India

In my childhood days, it was my desire, “I want a wound”. My childhood was associated with small-small wounds due to careless running and playing. This incident correlated with two things, adhesive cloth plaster and branded band aid plaster. Before 20 years, adhesive cloth plaster was used as the important wound dresser, but it was not common. Most of the people uses clean white cloth to bind the wound. So wound with cloth plaster seek a special attention among our kid’s group.

In the summer season, after the harvest, we use the paddy field as our cricket play ground. Our sports
kit includes tapioca stem stumps as wickets, coconut leaf stem for six maker and a rubber ball for
Yorker. Most of my matches were ended with red cards in my knee or elbow. My mother stocked a big
roll of cloth plaster in home, because she knew that ever and anon I come with red card. After putting a
white color plus plaster mark on knee, she will advise me again “be careful while playing”.

Next day, when I reached the kid’s group the plus mark on knee adds some plus to my personality. This mark is a symbol of style. The kind of every mark will be a reason for half an hour figment. If I didn’t fall between tapioca stumps, if my knee didn’t cut, our team will win the match, Every time my bombastic story will end in such a manner.

Once we were chatting near our play ground, I saw branded band aid sticked on my friend’s leg.
Skin colored band aid with some medicines finely applied in the middle of sticker. I have seen the
advertisement of this branded plaster in dooradarshan. Everyone looked at the band aid, and
appreciated him to become the band aid owner. He got upper hand in the group. My white plus mark
with chubby cotton medicine now became a minus mark in the group

“I want a wound, I want band aid plaster “. Next time when I got wound, I will not allow putting plus
marking. I want a body colored plaster. Every month, my grandmother had given 10 rupees as pocket
money. I took one rupee from my pocket money and decided to buy a band aid. Unfortunately, then
onwards I did not get any wound in the matches. “I want a wound’,every evening I prayed in front of
god almighty, but no use.

One day I worked out plan. I decided to make a small wound in the middle finger with a blade. Small
wound, that is enough. I tried two or three times, but when I placed the blade near the finger, my
courage loses. So I quit this dangerous plan and again believed in prayer.

That is right; your strong belief will become true. When I was coming back from tuition center, a cycle
hit me. It was not a red card, a long red ribbon, Nick of time somebody came there and pick me up from there. Bleeding was not stopped. When I opened my eyes, a group of people, including some nurses and my mother were looking me. I looked at my hand and laid a finger on my head. No branded band aid. Not even adhesive cloth plaster. Net like cotton were used to bind my big wounds. I requested my mother; please stick a band aid on my face. Then the nurse said band aid is not suitable for such a big wound. Compare to this words, the pain of wound are negligible. Owing the sedation of medicine, I slumbered with heavy heart.
